Antihistamine drugs are prescribed in the treatment of a variety of conditions ranging from allergies to asthma. They usually have a depressant or sedative effect on the central nervous system. Those antihistamines with sedative properties have been widely abused. These drugs have included cyclizine, promethazine and diphenhydramine (DPH).
