Anxiety

Stress is a natural response to the threat of danger. Your brain releases chemicals, making you mentally alert and physically ready for action. Once the danger is over, it takes up to an hour for your brain to switch off this ‘stress response’. Stress can become a problem when it lasts for a long time or is very intense. There’s a fine line between stress and anxiety as both have nearly identical symptoms. While stress is usually caused by something happening, anxiety is constant excessive worries that don’t go away even when what caused the stress has gone away. Both using and quitting street drugs may lead to anxiety. However, some people use street drugs in an attempt to relieve the symptoms of anxiety. Although this might work in the short term, it can make the symptoms worse once the drugs have worn off. There are other anxiety treatments and ways of coping with stress that are much more effective than street drugs.
