Base

The term base can refer to amphetamine or cocaine in a putty or paste form. This may be a purified form of the drug or just a sloppy wet paste, bulked up with adulterants. Base is often confused with ‘freebase’, which means that for example cocaine hydrochloride has been purified to separate it from its (hydrochloric acid) base, turning it into a smokable form of the drug.
