BZP
bzpBZP (1-benzylpiperazine) is manufactured from piperazine, a substance that has been used for many years as an antihelminthic drug in the treatment of intestinal round worm infestations. BZP started to be used as a recreational stimulant in the early 2000’s as a legal, although less potent, alternative to amphetamine and ecstasy. BZP is now rarely seen as street drug. BZP and substituted piperazines are controlled under the Misuse of Drugs Act as Class C.
