Deep Vein Thrombosis
thrombosis-gwythiennau-dwfnDeep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot in one of the deep veins in the body, usually in the legs. A blood clot can occur in larger veins that run through the muscles of the calf and the thigh. Blood clots that develop in a vein are also known as venous thrombosis. Symptoms can include pain, swelling and a heavy aching sensation in the leg. DVT may lead to complications such as blockages in blood vessels in the lungs (pulmonary embolism).
