Hyperthermia

hyperthermia

Hyperthermia is a condition in which an individual's body temperature is elevated beyond normal. When extreme temperature elevation occurs, it becomes a medical emergency and can be life threatening. An adverse reaction to some drugs, most notably stimulant drugs like MDMA (ecstasy) may cause hyperthermia. People taking MDMA, particularly if dancing in a hot humid environment are advised to sip water regularly, take regular breaks to cool down and seek help immediately in an emergency.
