Lemon juice contains citric acid, so has been used to prepare brown heroin to make it soluble in water for injection. However, using lemon juice or vinegar can cause serious infections when injected. Sterile citric acid and vitamin C sachets are available for free from needle exchange services to help reduce the risk.
