Rohypnol is a brand name for flunitrazepam. It is a benzodiazepine that was mainly prescribed for sleep disorders. During the 1990s, Rohypnol (or ‘Roofies’) became associated with drug-assisted rape cases in the United States. It is a class C schedule 3 drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act. It is not prescribed by the NHS but may be legally possessed with a private prescription.
