To spike or spiking are terms used to describe giving alcohol or drugs to somebody without their knowledge or consent. This may be done with malicious intent and/or to render them vulnerable to sexual assault or rape. It is not known how common this practice is, although research indicates alcohol is by far the most common drug used for this purpose.
