Oxycodone is an opioid painkiller. It's used to treat severe pain, for example for pain from cancer. It comes as slow-release tablets, standard tablets and capsules, and a liquid that you swallow. Oxycodone sometimes comes with naloxone (the opioid overdose antidote) is known by the brand names Myloxifin, Oxyargin or Targinact.

Desired Effects:

Euphoria, relaxation, reduced anxiety.

Side Effects:

  • Constipation
  • Feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting)
  • Stomach discomfort
  • Feeling sleepy or tired
  • Feeling dizzy and a sensation of spinning (vertigo)
  • Confusion
  • Headaches
  • Itchiness or rash

Long term risks:

Short term risks:

  • Tolerance.
  • Overdose which can be fatal.
  • Fake oxycodone tablets have regularly been tested in the UK and have contained the potent synthetic opioids known as ‘nitazenes’.
Central nervous system depressant, analgesic.
Usually swallowed, may be injected or snorted although various pharmaceutical formulations of the drug are designed to prevent this occurring.
Prescribed for moderate to severe pain after an operation and in end-of-life care.
Pharmaceutically manufactured. Fake versions made in illicit labs.
